The Asia Pacific Exhibitor
The February 2011 edition of The Asia Pacific Exhibitor includes an article by Jukka Mäkinen & Dingle Smith entitled `Analysis of FIP Revenue Exhibits 1988-2009’. It is based on the Powerpoint presentation given by Jukka at London 2010 which is available on this web site. However it is accompanied by additional text and comment.
It is reprinted here with the permission of NAPE and the authors.
NAPE (interNational Association of Philatelic Exhibitors) was established in 1987 and provides a forum for the discussion of all competitive aspects of the hobby of stamp collecting and the science of philately. Members receive a quarterly journal with each issue comprising 64 pages, some of which are in colour. The journal has on several occasions been awarded a Vermeil in the Literature Class at FIP shows. The February issue is of also of special interest to revenue collectors as it also contains the first part (of three) articles by Vincent Ong discussing his Gold medal exhibit `The Evolution of the Chinese Tax System’.
This can be viewed on www.nape.info together with details of how to subscribe; membership in Australia is A$30 and A$45 elsewhere, including air mail delivery.

FIP Exhibitions in London are always very special philatelic occasions and London 2010 will continue this proud tradition. The Revenue Bureau have booked a room at the venue from
10.00 am to 1.30 pm on Monday 10 May to which all National Delegates and revenue enthusiasts are invited. The meeting early in the Show will provide the opportunity for us to meet and talk informally later at the Show. Display boards will be available so if you can, bring along a few sheets for others to see. The meeting and details of the program will be announced on our web site. For details of London 2010 contact try www.london2010.org.uk.
Note that the Revenue Exhibits at London 2010 will only be on display from 8-11 May. Frances is President of London 2010 although he hopes to join us albeit briefly on 10 May. Any queries or suggestions for the program should be sent to Dingle Smith.

Dear National Delegates
This message is to introduce you to the members of FIP Revenue Commission elected at EFIRO in May 2008 and to announce that the new Revenue Commission web site is now available on:
www.fip-revenue.org
Bureau Members
The following Bureau members were elected at EFIRO 2008 in Bucharest:
Chairman Francis Kiddle (GB)
franciskiddle@talk21.com
Secretary Dingle Smith (Australia)
dsm30722@bigpond.net.au
Webmaster Francisc 'Fery' Ambrus (Romania)
fery@ess.ro or
fiprevenue@gmail.com
Eugenio Berrisso (Argentina)
†
Cedric Roche (South Africa)
croche@mweb.co.za
Jukka Makinen (Finland)
jukka.makinen@24.fi
Unfortunately there were delays in establishing the FIP Revenue Commission website but it is my pleasure to announce that Fery has agreed to take on the task as webmaster. The address for the web site is
www.fip-revenue.org and not www.f-i-p-revenue.org.uk as originally announced.
Our hope is that this will enable all National Delegates to contribute to the work of the Commission.
The initial web site provides photos and biographical details of most of the Bureau members and an introduction from Francis.
We hope that in due course to provide a history of all revenue exhibits that have been exhibited at FIP World Exhibitions since the class was initially accepted on an experimental basis in 1989 in India (also an experimental class in Finlandia 88). Jukka has generously agreed to take on this task.
The web site will also provide the opportunity to list revenue publications. These can include information on new publications, complete with details of price and address from which they can be obtained. This is a subject where contributions from National Delegates would be especially welcome. It would also be invaluable if National Delegates could provide bibliographies for specific countries or topics. Those that can provide details of lists of revenue material for specific countries would be invaluable to collectors (and judges!) worldwide.
It may be time for a revision of the GREVs for Revenues – these have not changed since the class was accorded full FIP status. The web site will act as a forum for discussion of this subject. So please send your views to Francis or myself.
The web site will be our main means of communication and the opportunity to share views and experiences among other revenue enthusiasts. It will incorporate the Newsletter that has been sent out in recent years to National Delegates. We will attempt to send it by post to Delegates who do not have access to email.
The Commission still has problems in obtaining up to date lists of National Delegates to the Revenue Commission. I attach a list of FIP member countries and National Delegates for whom we require information. Any help you can give to help update this list would be invaluable, especially email addresses for contacts.
